Who is this program for?

  • First, what this program is NOT… This program is not a substitute for personalized pelvic pain management from your individual healthcare professional. This is a group education program open to the public.
  • This is a holistic patient education program designed to help you discover possible root cause contributions of your nutrition, movement, sleep, and other lifestyle factors that may be contributing to your pelvic pain and that you can change in order to reduce your pain.
  • You will also learn how to better communicate with your healthcare team to get the best possible care for your condition, and how to choose highly skilled healthcare professionals to add to your healing team, such as pelvic expert physical therapists, functional nutritionists, functional medicine physicians, urogynecologists, excision surgeons, etc. as needed depending on your specific needs.

This program is 6 months long and covers the following topics:

Month 1: A focus on a pain-relieving mindset.

  • How you think, connect, set goals, and get support can make an important impact on your pain relief.  Your belief in your body’s ability to heal, your perspective, and your support network are essential factors that you will learn to optimize in this month.

Month 2: Nutrition for Pelvic Pain Relief.

  • The Integrative Women’s Health Institute has developed the first pelvic pain specific nutrition program.  Our approach has been validated clinically and published in a peer reviewed medical journal.  You will learn that while there is not a “one-size-fits-all” diet for pelvic pain relief, there is a nutrition approach that can help you to figure out the best nutrition plan for your body to reduce your pain.  And, we will help you to implement that food plan into your busy life with easy and delicious recipes, eating out strategies, and more.

 Month 3: Nutritional supplements for pelvic pain relief.

  • Nutritional supplements that support reducing inflammation, strengthening resilience of the stress response, and optimizing digestive, immune, hormonal and neurologic health can help reduce or eliminate pelvic pain when used in the context of good support and a healthy lifestyle.

Month 4: Quiet Your Nervous System.

  • Ultimately, in all cases of pain, your nervous system is involved. When your nervous system is more sensitive, then pain is more easily triggered. In this module, we’ll teach you how to build resilience in your nervous system using simple exercises that you can do at home.  Sleep is also essential for pain reduction, and we’ll dive deep into sleep optimization strategies in this module as well.

Month 5: Building Your Healing Team.

  •  You are your best healer, because no one understands your pain journey as well as you do, and no one cares about your health as much as you do. But, having a great, skilled, supportive and compassionate team of local healthcare professionals can be very helpful if you need supportive therapies like surgery, physical therapy, or psychotherapy as a part of your healing journey. In this module, we’ll teach you to build the best team to work for you.

Month 6: Healthy Hormones

  • The health of your hormone system is a key piece of the puzzle to resolving all pelvic pain conditions because even if your pelvic pain doesn’t involve your reproductive system, it is likely impacted by the state of your stress hormones. In this module, you’ll learn essential hormone testing, nutrition, lifestyle medicine, and supplementation to support optimal functioning of your hormone system.
